Lake Pontchartrain Sail & Power Squadron
A Unit of The United States Power Squadron

Home ABC Seamanship

The Lake Pontchartrain Sail & Power Squadron provides boater education for it's members as well as a basic boating course for the general public.  Completion of one of the basic classes qualifies one for the Louisiana Boater Operator license.  The schedule for Fall 2012 is pending.  Please consult the "Calendar" page for information as it is now

Because student materials are expensive and change frequently, we order student materials based on the number of members who register for the various courses we offer. Please register as soon as practicable to ensure that we have adequate time to place orders and receive them in a timely manner. We typically want to order the course materials 30 days before the course begins. Thanks.

The Education Department offers "Registration by Phone".

Learn About: Introduction to Boating; Federal and State Boating Laws; Personal Safety Equipment; Safe Boat Handling; Navigation; Water Skiing, and River Boating; Personal Water Craft (PWC) and much, much more.

This very popular course exceeds all State and Federal educational requirements.  Instruction is FREE, but there is a

$25 charge for course material.  Passing the course will qualify participants for boat insurance discounts with many insurance providers.  Contact your insurance agent for what discounts they offer.
